What is Cool Yuh Head?
Cool Yuh Head is an anger management and conflict resolution programme designed for secondary school students aged 11-18 years. The programme provides a safe and judgment-free space for students to explore emotions, develop conflict resolution skills, and gain confidence in handling difficult situations.
Programme Structure
Spanning 6 to 8 weeks within the Health and Family Life Education (HFLE) curriculum, sessions are 40 minutes long and facilitated using an interactive teaching approach. The programme covers:
- Understanding anger and conflict.
- How choices become decisions and decisions become habits.
- Response models for handling anger and conflict.
- Anger management and conflict resolution strategies.
- The difference between escalation and de-escalation.
Support Beyond Sessions
Students often seek additional one-on-one sessions with facilitators, which are coordinated with the school’s Guidance Counsellor. This reflects the trust and support that the programme builds among students.
Impact and Benefits
Through Cool Yuh Head, students develop:
- Accountability and decision-making skills.
- Emotional intelligence and self-regulation.
- Confidence and problem-solving abilities.
